Paul Graham

Course Presenter:

Paul Graham is an Australian podiatrist who has been in private practice since 1987 and is particularly interested in musculoskeletal diseases.
In 1998, he first started using the computerized plantar pressure measurement function and added it to the video exam to help analyze and diagnose gait and foot function. Using plantar pressure analysis to provide objective data and predict treatment results has become an indispensable part of his examination process to significantly improve the patient’s clinical outcome.

Course Description:

  • This course is an introduction to using clinical plantar pressure analysis to diagnose foot dysfunction. The training is for practical use in a clinical setting rather than for research.  It includes short video demonstrations of weight bearing and non weight bearing tests and the plantar pressure examples of two common foot dysfunctions: Plantar Heel pain and Medial Ankle pain. The total training time is approximately 2 hours.

  • Module 1 – Underlying Principles
    1. Why use plantar pressure to diagnose foot conditions?
  • Module 2 – Diagnosis and Analysis
    1. How does plantar pressure analysis assist diagnosis of foot dysfunction?
  • Module 3 – Pressure Mapping and common foot conditions
    • Plantar Pressure analysis in the clinical setting
Most common foot conditions have typical plantar pressure features. Module 3 looks at two common conditions; plantar heel pain and medial ankle pain.
  • Module 4 – How to use Plantar Pressure Mapping to predict treatment outcomes
    • Plantar Pressure analysis in the clinical setting
Module 4 shows how you can use plantar pressure analysis to predict the effect of mechanical intervention on your patient’s function. It looks at two interventions to predict the outcome of addressing arch collapse, and to improve heel loading.
